Integration is thus one of the keywords of the NaBioTech project: we are actually convinced that through the fusion of Nano and Biotechnologies, it is possible to create innovative products able to radically change our way of living.

What exactly are Nano and Biotechnologies?

Nano and Biotechnologies

Biotechnologies: from nature to science

In our view Biotechnologies are all those natural processes, which are already existing in nature and are part of the environmental balance, constituting all organisms life cycles: synthesis processes of organic materials and also of biological degradation to obtain the basic components for new syntheses. The components used are:

MICROORGANISMS (bacteria, yeast, microscopic fungi)

ENZYMES, PROTEIN, POLY AND OLIGOPEPTIDE

MICROELEMENTS AND MINERAL SALTS

VEGETAL EXTRACTS

All these components are of natural origin and non-GMO and come directly from the most advanced knowledge in the biological field. Microorganisms are GMO-free and ubiquitous, which means they are commonly present in many natural environments, thus to avoid the risk of introducing organisms unrelated to the environment. They are obtained by matching them in order to increase their effectiveness and accelerate their activity. Microorganisms are grown in our fermentation plants, under conditions similar to those in which they will be used, in order to further reduce the adaptation time and have maximum effectiveness in a short time and a prolonged action over time.

Nanotechnology: starting from something small to something useful

They are based on recent discoveries-from the second half of the twentieth century-relating to the behavior of common materials that change according to their size and structure. Some materials are actually brought to dimensions smaller than 1 × 10-9m with particular structures and acquire unique features of:
  • Mechanical resistance;
  • Chemical reactivity;
  • Thermal stability;
  • Waterproofness and permeability;
  • Electric conductivity;
  • Compatibility and absorption capacity;
  • Surface specificity;
…and so much more to develop!

All materials used to create nano-structures are common and non-dangerous substances, whose features come from the technological skill to create particles whose structure is controlled and defined on a molecular level. Many applications in different fields (medical-health, building, restoration and protection of surfaces) are extensively used; among these, some also have interesting applications in biology, such as: bio-specific activity, the function of carrier of substances through materials and high specificity for surfaces.

Pure or combined with other components, nano-materials allow to improve and accelerate natural processes, thus to make them more effective, rapid and efficient and contributing to the environmental impact reduction.
